1950: Drawing on the grocery store experience of his father Dave, Stanley Ravitz opened his first store on Broad and Susquehanna streets in Philadelphia.
1975: Stanley Ravitz continued the family’s legacy of providing quality groceries at affordable prices in Southern New Jersey. The first store was opened at the intersection of Chapel Avenue and Kings Highway.
1979: With Stanley’s sons Steve and Ron Ravitz entering the business, grandsons Jason, Shawn, and Brett got their first taste of the retail world.
1980: Known for a dedicated work ethic and neighborly affection for customers, Stanley Ravitz was the driving force behind the company’s expansion.
1983: Ravitz Family Markets acquired two Shop ‘N’ Bag locations in Ellisburg and Delran during an auction at a Food Fare Bankruptcy.
1984: The Ravitz Family joined the Wakefern Food Corporation and began operating its stores as ShopRite locations. By working with more than other 200 retail food store locations in seven states, Wakefern has allowed Ravitz Family Markets to raise customers’ standard of living by providing the highest quality merchandise at lower prices.
1994: Steve and Ron lead the construction of the Mouth Laurel store and open the family’s first store location built from the ground up.
1999: With the opening of the Racetrack store, Ravitz Family Markets began its shift from smaller stores to spaces that allowed for more products and customer services.
2007: Following the acquisition of three Stop ‘N’ Shop locations, the Ravitz family and its associates worked around the clock to reopen the stores within 60 days.
2013: Led by the third generation of Ravitz family members, our company is proud to teach our traditions of philanthropy, excellent customer service, and superior quality products to our employees’ siblings, children, cousins, aunts, and uncles who are now working daily in our supermarkets.
